OUR

STORY

Allowing Deer, Landscaping & People to Co-Exist
OUR TEAM

Just west of St. Louis, Missouri is a beautifully wooded suburb named Wildwood. The lush vegetation, rolling hills, many parks and quiet back roads have made it a wonderful place to live for over 35,000 people. Those same attributes that attract so many people to Wildwood also attract even more Whitetail deer. You probably live somewhere similar and struggle to find a way to have your landscaping and deer co-exist while staying free of harmful chemicals. This is how Wildwood Deer Repellent was born.

Wildwood Deer Repellent is a soap based and chemically safe deer repellent. If you are comfortable using soap, you’ll be comfortable using Wildwood Deer Repellent. Deer dislike the taste of the concentrate and after several years of trial and error with other deer sprays and formulations, we’re happy to say that none have worked as well as ours. Feel free to reach out on our Contact Us link above with questions or comments. We’d love to hear from you.

Application

Spray directly on the foliage you wish to protect.  While some deer repellents rely on smell to deter the deer and are applied around your plants, ours is not.  The mixture of soaps / detergents leave a bitter taste on the foliage so your yard still smells great but your plants taste awful.

How long does it last?

We encourage a heavy spray the first few applications to deter the deer from coming around. From that point forward, it depends on how much rain you’re getting. During dry weather, an application will last several days but if it rains or you water your plants, you’ll need to reapply each time.

Is it safe for all plants?

We’re aren’t horticulturalist but we’ve yet to find a plant that reacts negatively to the spray. This includes plants that deer seem to find the most attractive. Hostas, Yews, annual ornamentals and more. To deer, the spray creates a bitter taste that causes them to eat elsewhere

It is safe for people?

The spray is a soap based formulation and carries the same chemical advantages that come with routine soap use. You can apply it without protective gear but if you get it in your eyes it will likely sting for a moment and we discourage you from getting it in your mouth (don’t use naughty words!) That said, we allow our children and grandchildren to spray it with no reservations and they come back in the house smelling great. This is a good link from the Missouri Poison Center in regards to ingesting soap should it happen.

Is it safe for deer?

Yes.  Similar to you and I, deer dislike the taste of soap and our formulation seems to be the one they like the least. (blind taste test with deer is proving hard to accomplish) Also similar to you and I, this is a non-toxic solution to deer.
